1976
occurred
when
a
thunderstorm
stalled
over
the
canyon
dropping
twelve
inches
of
rain
during
a
four
hour
period
. The
river
rose
nineteen
feet
forcing
a
torrent
of
water
down
the
canyon
and onto the
eastern
plain
. A
peak
point
rainfall
of
7.4
inches
was
measured
in
Rist
Canyon
,
compared
to a
14
inch
peak
in the
Glen
Haven
area
of the
Big
Thompson
.
